Meerkat Room

The Meerkat Room

In the 1-2 year old Meerkat Room at Little Leo's, we create a nurturing and stimulating environment that is carefully tailored to the unique needs and developmental milestones of toddlers. Learning in this room is focused on fostering the holistic growth of each child, including their cognitive, social, emotional, and physical development.

Toddlers in the Meerkat Room are at a crucial stage of language acquisition. Our experienced Educators engage children in conversation, read stories, and sing songs to encourage speech development. They also introduce basic vocabulary and help toddlers express themselves using words.

Play-based activities are central to our curriculum. Children engage in activities such as stacking blocks, scribbling with crayons, and playing with age-appropriate puzzles. These activities help develop fine motor skills like hand-eye coordination. Our room also has ample space for physical activities, allowing toddlers to practice their gross motor skills through crawling, walking, and exploring their surroundings.

The Meerkat Room provides opportunities for toddlers to interact with their peers, fostering the development of social skills. Through group play and activities, children learn important lessons about sharing, taking turns, and cooperation. Our Educators are on hand to guide these interactions, ensuring a positive and supportive atmosphere.

We understand that emotional development is a crucial aspect of toddlerhood. Our Educators create a warm and secure environment where children feel safe to express their emotions. They provide comfort and guidance to help toddlers navigate feelings like frustration, excitement, and empathy towards others.

Toddlers are naturally curious, and our Meerkat Room is designed to encourage exploration. We offer age-appropriate sensory experiences, such as sand and water play, which stimulate the senses and promote cognitive development. The room is filled with age-appropriate toys and materials that inspire curiosity and creativity.

Establishing a daily routine helps toddlers develop a sense of predictability and security. Our Educators guide children through daily routines that including mealtimes, naptimes, and play. These routines also encourage independence as toddlers learn to feed themselves, tidy up after play, and take their first steps towards self-care.

The safety and well-being of your child are our top priorities. The Meerkat Room is designed with safety in mind, and our Educators are trained in first aid and CPR. We maintain a clean and hygienic environment to ensure the health of all children.
